Nutrition: At the end of the year, how about telling more jokes and eating fewer calories?

Another year is coming to an end. And here comes the celebrations, dinners, get-togethers and everything else that comes with these times. For many, they are seen as celebrations and joy, but for others, they are seen as a period of overeating and tension.

I want to share some thoughts with you. Precious tips that I have learned over the course of almost 16 years of my career, providing many services and exchanging ideas with a wide range of people. Whether it is to think about your New Year's Eve dinners or for any other moment in your life!

I often talk about a certain “vitamin” that few people know about or know too much about nowadays: “vitamin P” – for Pleasure. I’m joking to tell you that it’s part of your body, but you have to know how to take it to bring joy and not guilt. There’s a time for everything.

Those who know me (and you who follow me must have noticed) know that my way of seeing food, nutrition and everything that permeates this universe is: for whom, how much and when should anything be consumed. Nutrients, yes. But affection, memories and all the emotional baggage that the act of eating brings as well. My mission as a nutritionist is to be able to share with people that everything is possible, but not everything is good for us.

Stimulate reflection, shed light on consciousness so that the best choices can be made according to your goals, which can often be contradictory, but with a good pinch of self-awareness can be connected and more aligned. Understanding that in life, everything can be enjoyed in moderation and without extremes.

Another cycle ends, to make way for the new! How wonderful! I hope you blow away what no longer belongs to you. That you drink many sips of courage to make room for the NEW. That you plant green and fertile trees in your mind, like beautiful and tender broccoli!

May you regain confidence in your body. May you look at famous people’s Instagrams and see more of yourself. And if you do, may it serve as inspiration and not as a distortion of yourself. May you want to control your body less, “dancing” more with it and listening to your signals and intuition. Less struggle, more love and acceptance. Pleasure. Balance. Fulfillment. May pleasure not mean excess! May you awaken the perception that “perfect” is unattainable and that, in this case, failure is inevitable.

We need to realize not only what we show to others, but also what we feel inside. We want to lose weight to improve our health and well-being, not to feel deprived, sad and unhappy. Know that one choice does not make us who we are, but rather the sum of our choices, in a big way. How is your lifestyle, not your current diet? Your chewing? Breathing? Your body posture?

How is your water and colorful food consumption, but also those that come from the earth and not just from the food industry? The quantity of what you eat? The movement and activity of your body? Your check-up exams?

Close your eyes.
Just look at yourself for a minute.

One step at a time, a new step every day, and naturally you will have formed a different path. Great success is made up of a considerable number of small circumstances, each of which is so small and seemingly insignificant that most of us pass by them without paying attention.

Time for rescue and review of priorities! Let's go! The world won't change for us to start doing something, so take ACTION, because outside of your comfort zone there are many things that make life interesting too. In 2019, may you make peace with food and with your best friend and companion. Grab a mirror and look at her!
